Fulton Woman Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit and Abandons Child in Car

A Fulton woman is facing multiple charges after taking the Missouri Highway Patrol on a vehicle pursuit yesterday (Monday) on US Highway 50, east of Tipton, where she is accused of abandoning her child.

According to the release from the Pettis County Sheriff a vehicle driven by 30 year old Sydney M. Ward was traveling over 90 miles per hour and went off the roadway into a field.

Ward then left on foot leaving a juvenile in the vehicle.

She was tracked by a Pettis County deputy and police canine to a small body of water where she again attempted to resist arrest.

The canine engaged Ward, however the deputy was able to restrain the dog and she was arrested without injury.

She had a warrant in Callaway County for unlawful use of a weapon and domestic assault, other charges are pending related to the pursuit.
