Callaway County Woman Pleading Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity in 2020 Murder

A Callaway County woman who is accused of killing her mother will not go to trial after pleading not guilty by reason of insanity.

The Callaway County prosecutor said Lola Crews made the plea on April 26th and 2 mental evaluations found that she had schizoaffective disorder, and was incapable of understanding the case against her.

Investigators suspected Crews, killed her mother Frances Keel at a home in the 8300 block of Broadway Street outside of New Bloomfield in January 2020.

The 64 year old woman is now in a state mental hospital.
