Delta COVID-19 Variant Prevalent in Parts of Missouri

The Missouri Department of Health and Human Services is issuing a Health Advisory due to the Delta COVID-19 variant.

The highest proportion of Delta variant cases is in the southwest part of Missouri, but has been detected in 16 of 23 recent wastewater plant samples, including Mexico.

CDC data shows the top symptoms of the Delta variant are headache followed by runny nose and /or sore throat.

Fever and cough were less common and the loss of smell was not in the top ten symptoms.

Masking, social distancing, and vaccinations are still the recommended protocols for unvaccinated individuals according to health officials.
