Pair of Audrain County Accidents Keep Emergency Crews Busy Saturday

Two accidents in Audrain County yesterday (Saturday) send two men to area hospitals.

The first was at 11:00 on Audrain Road 945 when an ATV driven by 63-year old Larry Jones of Thompson struck a tree on private property.

He was taken to a Columbia hospital with moderate injuries while his 5-year old passenger was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The second accident was at 2:00 and happened on Route J 2000 feet west of Route O according to the Highway Patrol.

A pickup driven by 57-year old Carl E. Wolfe of Mexico ran off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole, returned to the roadway and ran off the left side again, this time striking an embankment.

Wolfe was placed under arrest for felony driving while intoxicated and released to medical personnel for transport with serious injuries.
