KWWR Sports Report 8/31/21

The Community R6 Lady Trojans softball team played their first road game of the year last night (Monday) and picked up a 15-2 win against Glasgow.

Lady Trojan Brooklynn Glasgow doubled in the top of the fourth, scoring 2 runs.

It was a scoring frenzy for Community R6 in the 5th inning as the Lady Trojans scored ten runs with RBI from Olivia Schafer, Olivia Kuda, Lydia Forbis and Sarah Angel.

Shelby Clark pitched five innings allowing two hits and two runs and striking out 1.

Community R6 evened their record on the season to 1-1.

The Mexico Girls Golf Team competed in their first meet of the season yesterday (Monday) at the Jefferson City Country Club against Helias, Palmyra and Boonville.

Kennedi Row shot a 52, Morgan Craig shot a 66 and Alexis Henderson shot a 70.

The girls will be at home at Arthur Hills in Mexico tonight to play Hallsville, Salisbury and New Bloomfield.

The St. Louis Cardinals pulled closer in the race for the second National League Wild Card Spot after defeating the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 on the road last night (Monday).

Cardinals starting pitcher Jon Lester picked up his 198th career victory and Paul Goldschmidt hit a 2 run homer.

With the win the Cardinals now trail the Reds by just 2 and 1/2 games in the division and in the Wild Card Race.

Game 2 of the 3 game series takes place tonight.
