KWWR Sports Report 9/8/21

The Mexico Lady Bulldogs lost 4-2 in NCMC Conference game against the Kirksville Tigers at home last night (Tuesday).

Jordyn Thurman had a hit and scored a run, Taylor DeMint and Jordyn Thurman each had stolen bases, and Ruby Haefling put up a double.

Mexico is off today and will play Hannibal on the road tomorrow night.

The Community R6 Lady Trojans Softball team defeated Pilot Grove 13-3 last night (Tuesday).

Junior Sarah Angel led the game off with a triple. Senior Alexis Welch also had a triple. The Lady Trojans improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

The JV Lady Trojans improved to 4-0 on the year with a 19-1 win over Pilot Grove.

The North Callaway Thunderbirds Softball girls lost 11-9 to Wright City.

The Thunderbirds fell to 1-2 and will play Wellsville tonight (Wednesday).

The Mexico Girls Tennis team lost to Hannibal Pirates 9-0.

Hannibal is undefeated on the season while Mexico is now 2-2.

Mexico’s Katie Gooch had a strong night and took both of her matches down to the wire according to Head Coach Kim Costley.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 7-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Busch Stadium last night (Tuesday).

The Redbirds suffered their fourth loss in a row, despite a good night from Tyler O’Neill, he recorded three hits.

The Cardinals remain 3 and 1/2 games back of the second Wild Card spot.

The Kansas City Royals lost 7-3 to the Baltimore Orioles on the road.
