KWWR Sports Report 9/15/21

The Mexico Bulldogs Girls Softball Team lost 5-3 at home against the Centralia Panthers last night (Tuesday).

Centralia would get out to an early lead with a 3 run 2nd inning.

The Lady Bulldogs came roaring back in the fifth inning that started off with a single from Riley Thurman, then an RBI double from Abby Bellamy capped off by a 2 run home run from Jordyn Thurman.

The Panthers would 2 runs in the sixth to secure the victory.

Mexico’s Jordyn Thurman pitched a complete game and recorded 4 strikeouts.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow (Thursday) at home against NCMC rival Fulton.

The Community R6 Lady Trojans softball girls remained undefeated in Conference play with a 7-2 victory over Slater.

Senior Alexis Welch and Freshman Rylee Rafferty had RBI doubles.

The Lady Trojans are back in action tonight (Wednesday) on the road at Paris.

The Community R6 Junior High Lady Trojans dominated South Callaway with a 15-0 win.

The game ended by the run rule in the third inning.

The Mexico Girls Tennis Team lost to a strong Palmyra team 7-2.

The St. Louis Cardinals have moved up in the National League Wild Card Standings after beating the New York Mets 7-6 in 11 innings last night (Tuesday) on the road.

St. Louis is now a half-game ahead of the Cincinnati Reds and one game ahead of the San Diego Padres for the 2nd Wild Card spot.

It was a long, wild night in New York with the game lasting 4 hours and 34 minutes.

Edmundo Sosa broke a 4-4 tie, scoring Yadier Molina.

The Redbirds improved their record to 75-69 and will go for the series sweep against the Mets tonight.

The Kansas City Royals defeated the Oakland A’s 10-7 at the K.

Royals catcher Salvador Perez capped off an epic comeback when he hit his 43rd home run of the season.

At one point the Royals were down six runs to Oakland in the series opener.
