KWWR Sports Report 9/22/21

For a second straight night the Mexico Bulldogs Girls Softball Team picked up an extra innings win.

Mexico defeated Moberly 1-0 in 10 innings on the road last night (Tuesday).

Jordyn Thurman threw a shutout with 6 strikeouts.

Taylor DeMint led off the 10th inning with a walk, and then moved over 2nd on a bunt single by Brooke Teel and then scored on a base hit by Lexie Willer.

The Mexico Bulldogs Girls Tennis Team shut out North Pointe 9-0 in a home meet last night (Tuesday). North Pointe is a brand new school in Wentzville.

Lady Bulldogs singles winners included Shelby Kennemore, Katie Gooch, Lily Yager, Estrella Ramirez-Lopez, and Jocelyn Jarquin-Garcia.

Double winners for Mexico were Shelby Kennemore and Katie Gooch, Lily Yager and Winona Whelan, and the duo of Jocelyn Jarquin-Garcia and Winona Whelan.

Mexico improved their season record to 8-3.

The St. Louis Cardinals outlasted the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 in ten innings last night (Tuesday) to record their 10th consecutive win.

Cardinals starting pitcher Jake Woodford set the tone with 5 scoreless innings, and the Cardinals bullpen allowed just one run over the next four innings.

The win keeps a firm grasp on the 2nd National League Wild Card spot for the Cardinals, as their lead over the Cincinnati Reds increased to 4 games after the Reds lost to Pittsburgh.

The Cardinals magic number is now down to 8 to clinch a postseason berth.

The Kansas City Royals lost 4-1 to the Cleveland Indians.

The Royals will go for a series split against the Indians tonight (Wednesday) in Cleveland.
