KWWR Sports Report 10/6/21

The Mexico High School Softball Team knocked off Moberly 9-5 in a conference and district match up last night (Tuesday) in Mexico.

It was a huge night at the plate for Abby Bellamy who hit 2 home runs and tied the School record at 8 for home runs in a season.

Bellamy went 2-3 with 4 RBI. Kierstan Epperson was a perfect 3-3 and had 2 RBI.

Taylor DeMint was 2-4, Brooke Teel went 2-3. Jordyn Thurman had a hit and pitched a complete game.

Up next it is Senior Night tonight (Wednesday) against the Hannibal Pirates with a 5pm first pitch.

The Community R6 High School Lady Trojans Softball Team picked up a 12-4 win at home over Louisiana last night (Tuesday).

North Callaway Thunderbirds Softball Girls beat Mark Twain 4-1 on Senior Night.

The Thunderbirds improved to 5-4 in conference play.

The regular season finale is tomorrow (Thursday) when they host Bowling Green.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be in Los Angeles tonight (Wednesday) to face the Dodgers in a one game Wild Card game.

The 2 teams faced each other 7 times this season and the Dodgers won four of the games, outscoring the Cardinals 42-20 in their 2 head-to-head series.

The winner advances to play the San Francisco Giants.

St. Louis sends veteran Adam Wainwright to the mound while the Dodgers counter with Max Scherzer.

First pitch is at 7:10.

In the American League Wild Card game last night (Tuesday) the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees 6-2.

The Red Sox have advanced to the best-of-five AL Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Game 1 is tomorrow (Thursday) night in St. Petersburg, Florida.
