More Officers Leave Centralia Police Department

Two more officers with the Centralia Police Department have resigned today (Thursday) according to a press release from the City of Centralia.

The city says they have contacted the Boone County Sheriff’s Department to assist the remaining officers within the police department as they take applications for the open positions.

Chief Bob Bias turned in his letter of resignation in late September with an effective date of October 10 and officer Patrick McGee was fired in late September and was the first of three officers to leave the department.

McGee claims his firing was a move to take down the chief in order to lower forces.

In today’s press release, Centralia Mayor Chris Cox says the City plans to search for a new Police Chief and will look to promote an interim Chief from within the department ranks and is taking applications for the open officer positions.
