KWWR Sports Report 10/8/21

The Mexico Bulldogs Football Team will be on the road for a second straight week when they travel to Kirksville to face the Tigers tonight (Friday). Mexico is 5-1 and 2-1 in the NCMC while Kirksville is 3-3 and 2-1 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

Mexico Girls Tennis Team put up a 2nd place finish in Districts yesterday (Thursday) against Palmyra.

Mexico singles winners included Shelby Kennemore, Lily Yager, and Jocelyn Jarquin-Garcia.

Mexico doubles winners included Shelby Kennemore and Katie Gooch, and Jocelyn Jarquin-Garcia and Estrella Ramirez-Lopez.

The Lady Bulldogs finish with a team record of 11-4.

Shelby Kennemore will compete in Sectionals in Mexico this afternoon at 4.

Community R6 Lady Trojans Softball Team defeated Marion County 4-3.

It was Senior Night for the Lady Trojans.

Senior Alexis Welch recorded a walk off base hit to secure the win.

Both Alexis Welch and Shelby Clark were honored on Senior Night.

The Mexico Lady Bulldogs Softball Team lost to NCMC rival Fulton 13-4 last night (Thursday).

Mexico’s Riley Thurman led the way hitting a grand slam and going 2-4.

Abby Bellamy and Taylor DeMint were 1-4.

Lexie Willer had a multiple hit game going 2-4.

The last regular season game is tomorrow (Saturday) at Macon against the Tigers.

The North Callaway Girls Softball Team wrapped up their regular season with a 8-0 loss to Bowling Green. Each team had 9 hits. The Thunderbirds begin District play against New Bloomfield at Harrisburg on Tuesday night.

The St. Louis Blues will have one more chance to fine tune their game before the regular season starts as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight (Friday) at 7 in their preseason finale.

The Blues have lost 3 straight preseason contests entering tonight’s matchup at the Enterprise Center.

The Blues regular season opens October 16th against the Colorado Avalanche.

The home opener is scheduled for Octoberr 23rd against Los Angeles.
