Cardinals Manager Mike Shildt Fired

The Cardinals have parted ways with Manager Mike Shildt. In a press conference this afternoon (Thursday), President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak said it was a decision that was not influenced by outside factors and involved a difference in Philosophy.

Shildt spent 13 years player development as a scout, coach, and manager before joining the Majors coaching staff in 2017 and was named interim manager July 15, 2018 and Manager 6 weeks later.

Mozeliak said in the press conference that there are a couple of members of the coaching staff that could be candidates for the Manager position.
