Multiple Crashes Back Up I-70 In Callaway County Wednesday Afternoon

Moderate injuries are being reported in a crash on I-70 in Callaway County that backed up traffic for almost 3 hours.

The incident involved four separate crashes with 5 tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles according to a tweet from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

It happened just before 1:30 yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) and closed eastbound I-70 past the Kingdom City exit.

Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said that one person had moderate injuries and was taken to the University Hospital.

According to several reports the interstate shutdown caused many people to stand outside their vehicles and talk to other drivers while they were waiting for the Interstate to reopen.
