Mexico Bulldogs Football Advances to District Championship Game After Defeating Eldon

The Mexico Bulldogs Football Team has advanced to a District Championship game after defeating Eldon 50-19 tonight (Friday) at Hawthorne Heights.

Eldon took the lead on their first possession driving the ball 64 yards and scoring on a 42 yard touchdown pass from Hunter Hees to wide receiver Dallas Hardy at 7:16 in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs would answer back going 60 yards, capped off by a 1 yard touchdown on a quarterback keep from Ty Sims.

The Mexico defense would force Eldon to punt on their second possession.

The Bulldogs would then take their first lead of the game going 53 yards on 5 plays.

The drive culminated on a 16 yard touchdown run by Anthony Shivers at the 11:29 mark of the 2nd quarter.

The extra point was missed and it was 13-7 Bulldogs.

The Mustangs would tie things up going 80 yards on their third possession and scoring on a rushing touchdown from running back Bryce Veach.

Mexico reclaimed the lead 20-13 on a 56 yard touchdown run from Anthony Shivers.

The Bulldogs Andrew Runge intercepted the ball at the 30 yard line.

The Mexico offense would capitalize on the turnover on a 29 yard touchdown pass from Ty Sims to Michael White, and it was 27-13 Mexico with 1 minute and 11 seconds to go in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs would put more points on the board on a 29 yard field goal from Andrew Runge and took a 30-13 lead into halftime.

Mexico would score the only touchdown in the third quarter when Kendyr Taylor recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Anthony Shivers would score his third touchdown of the game on a 45 yard score in the fourth quarter.

Jaden Hatfield scored on a 4 yard rush in the 4th.

And Connor Johnson had an interception in the fourth.

Mexico will now face the Blair Oaks Falcons in the District Championship Game on Friday, November 12th at Hawthorne Heights at 7pm.
