Mexico Bulldogs Football Earn District Championship After Defeating Blair Oaks

The Mexico Bulldogs football team are District champs after defeating the Blair Oaks Falcons 49-14 tonight (Friday) at Hawthorne Heights.

The Bulldogs defense set the tone of the game when Michael White intercepted Dylan Hair on the Falcons first possession.

White would then put Mexico on top 7-0 with the first score of the game on a 48 yard rushing touchdown at 9:03 in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs defense then recovered a fumble on the Falcons second possession of the game.

Michael White scored his second touchdown on an 11 yard touchdown run at the 5:11 mark of the first quarter and the Bulldogs were off to a quick 14-0 lead.

Blair Oaks would score on a 69 yard drive at 11:21 mark of the 2nd quarter on a 4 yard quarterback keep by Dylan Hair and it was Mexico 14 Blair Oaks 7.

The junior quarter back was injured in the end zone on the play and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher with what is thought to be trauma to the head.

After a 30 minute stoppage the game resumed.

The Bulldogs offense would get the ball and it would take just 2 plays for Mexico to get into the end zone.

Anthony Shivers scored on a 37 yard rush and the Bulldogs led 21-7.

Anthony Shivers then intercepted the ball.

Michael White scored on a 9 yard rush for his 3rd touchdown of the first half making it 28-7 Bulldogs.

The Mexico defense got in on the scoring when Andrew Runge returned a 23 yard pick six. Bulldogs up 34-7.

Mexico’s Connor Johnson intercepted the ball.

Michael White then recorded his 4th touchdown of the half on a 4 yard rush.

Mexico would take a 42-7 lead into halftime.

The lone touchdown scored in the third quarter belonged to Mexico’s Michael White who scored on a 77 yard touchdown run.

Mexico led 49-7.

Unofficial stats saw White finishing with 197 yards on the ground, 5 rushing rouchdowns and 2 interceptions.

The Mexico defense forced 5 turnovers.

The Bulldogs pulled their starters at the 4:26 mark of the fourth quarter.

Mexico now advances to the Sectionals of the high school football playoffs and will face Seneca next Saturday, November 20th.
