Community R-VI Lady Trojans Advance to Semi-Finals of New Franklin Tournament
The Community R-VI Lady Trojans defeated Pilot Grove 45-40 in round 2 of the New Franklin tournament last night (Wednesday).
Community R-VI Leaders: Brynna Beamer 15 pts. 4 rebs., Sarah Angel 12 pts. 5 steals, Olivia Kuda 12 pts. 6 rebs. , Kayla Jett 2 pts., Paige Meyer 2 pts., Brooklyn Glasgow 2 pts.
Community R-VI Head Coach Bob Curtis reports with two key players really unavailable, one out with illness and another starter playing limited minutes with an injury she suffered Monday night, we needed someone to step up Wednesday night.
Brynna Beamer connected on 4 3’s in the contest to help us bust their zone.
We knew that Pilot Grove was a very solid 2-3 zone team that would require some great outside shooting to insure a win.
Before the game we went to Brynna and said tonight is your night we need you to offensively help make up the giant hole in that is left from Alexis and Shelby being out.
She answered with 15 points and led us in scoring in the win. Sarah Angel and Olivia Kuda balanced the attack combining for 24.
Sarah did a nice job breaking their full court pressure all night and hit some key free-throw late to secure the win.
Olivia hit the glass against a post-heavy undefeated Lady Tigers team that suffered their fist loss of the season to the hands of the Lady Trojans Wednesday night.
Paige Meyer was a factor with her length blocks 2 shots and altering a lot of shots helping on drives to the rim as she forced a ton of tough shots.
The Lady Trojans will face New Franklin tomorrow night (Friday) in the semi-final of the tournament with a trip to the championship game on the line.
Community R-VI improved their record to 11-1.
