CAC Conference 6-0
Lady Trojans head coach Bob Curtis reports Monday night’s game had a lot on the line with the 7th ranked team in Class 2 in Community and the 10th ranked team in the State Cairo squaring off.
Both teams coming in standing undefeated in the conference.
Winning this game puts us in the drivers seat if we win out the rest of the way to claim our 5th straight conference title. Cairo is one of our biggest rivals in the CAC.
Every year their is so much excitement and energy around this game. Since we moved up a class we are in the same district as Sturgeon so this game held a lot of weight on who might grab the top seed. We had terrific offensive balance tonight with Olivia, Alexis and Sarah really filling it up.
Our defensive effort stole the show however as we marched into half time with a 10 point lead holding Cairo to just 15 first half points.
Paige Meyer blocked a couple shots and effected a lot of shots at the rim.
Alexis did a phenomenal job denying their dynamic freshman post. Harman touches close to the basket as she stands 6’1.
Shelby and Sarah were very good breaking the press and playing stingy defense on the Brumley sisters.
Brynna Beamer and Kayla Jett were also very patient against the press not turning it over and helping us navigate thru traffic.
I could not be more pleased with our execution Monday night.
