Columbia Woman With Ties to Mexico Killed in Kansas City Car Accident
A Columbia woman with ties to the Mexico, MO area is dead after a Corvette crashed into a building on Sunday night in Kansas City.
According to the Kansas City Police Department their officers stopped in the area of Linwood and Holmes and observed a Chevrolet Corvette traveling at a very high rate of speed.
Police were attending to another crash and did not try to stop or chase the Corvette.
According to the accident report the driver identified as 33 year old Delvon M. Landrum of Grandview, MO at one point drove to the right of a construction zone and onto a sidewalk and eventually crashed into a building at the southeast corner of East 31st Street and Troost Avenue and the car burst into flames.
Both Landrum and his passenger and 41 year old Nickie L. Lewis of Columbia were found inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
It took about five hours for police to re-open the intersection yesterday (Monday).
