Lightning Strike Cause of Mexico House Fire

A lightning strike neat a home in Mexico is the apparent cause of a fire early this morning (Wednesday).

Mexico Public Safety responded to the fire in the 700 block of West Breckenridge just before 2am.

Responding personnel found fire burning in the wall of an upstairs bedroom, near some wiring.

The fire was contained and put out with that section of the wall suffering significant damage, however the rest of the home having minimal damage.

The lightning strike near the home, disabled an electric transformer and Ameren-Missouri responded to service the transformer.

There were no injuries from the event.
