KWWR Sports Report 7/28/22
With three hits last night, including a double and a home run, Albert Pujols passed Rogers Hornsby to become fourth all time in hits for the Cardinals is St. Louis’ 6-1 win over Toronto.
The Cards also got a mixed bag of news on the injury front. Catcher Yadier Molina will catch in his first rehab game tonight at Triple-A Memphis. If all goes well, Molina could potentially return by August 2nd. Meanwhile, Center Fielder Harrison Bader’s news is not as good.
Bader will be shut down for several weeks after a diagnosis confirmed his heel injury. The outfielder isn’t expected to require surgery, but rest is imperative for his plantar fasciitis issue.
The Cards have the night off before opening a series Friday at Washington.

Kansas City is headed to New York for a 6:05 start tonight. Brady Singer is on the mound for the Royals and the Yanks counter with Jameson Taillon.
For the second night in a row, the Los Angeles Angels shut out Kansas City. Last night it was LA 4, KC 0, despite the Royals mustering 7 hits.
The annual Major League Baseball trading deadline frenzy is underway, and it has started in Kansas City, where the Royals have traded All-Star outfielder Andrew Benintendi. The 28-year-old outfielder, and his career best .320 average, is headed to the New York Yankees. In exchange, the Royals get three lower-level minor league pitching prospects: right-hander Beck Way, right-hander Chandler Champlain and left-hander T.J. Sikkema.
Sikkema, is a a former University of Missouri pitcher.
