Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia Faces Imminent Closure

Tri-County Care Center, Vandalia’s only nursing home will close at the end of August forcing about 40 residents to relocate and many more long-time employees are now facing the uncertainty of unemployment.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a raft of problems for the residential care center.

There is some hope that a private company will purchase the facility or funding may be found.

The city of Vandalia has subsidized employee paychecks for the last pay period of the month to the tune of just under $90,000.
