Missouri Voters to be First in Nation to Decide Whether to Expunge Non-Violent Marijuana Charges

Empower Missouri, among other advocates for the legalization of recreational marijuana that is on the ballot in November are bringing up a critical component for voters to consider: the automatic expunging of nonviolent marijuana-related charges of Missourian’s criminal records.

If passed, Missouri would be the first to allow voters to decide on expunging those records yet the twentieth state to legalize the drug.

Other states have taken similar action on expunging criminal records never by popular vote, rather, those policies were approved by later state legislation.
