School Access to Mental Health Professionals to Improve

Jefferson City and Fulton Schools are hiring more counselors and partnering with local mental health professionals to protect our children.

The American Counseling Association Knowledge Center survey results indicate that about half of Americans, mostly those under 18, now meet some of the diagnostic criteria for mental disorder. They say that suicidal ideation, extreme depression and desperation are most common in young people that snap.

Funding to increase access to mental health services in schools coming from the Biden administration and Governor Mike Parson included $955 million to support Missouri’s mental health care providers.
