Mental Health and the Possibility of Arming Teachers Come Into Focus in School Security
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education confirms that schools in Missouri are focusing on mental health, various trainings, and healthy communication relationships with local law enforcement agencies in order to keep our students safe.
While keeping site sensitive specifics close, options include active shooter training and drills, and increased presence or access to mental health professionals for students, and even the possibility of training of teachers or other school administrators to carry guns, working as school protection officers if the district permits it, which is allowed under Missouri law.
