Large Wake Causes Fatal Crash on Lake of the Ozarks Saturday

There was a fatal crash at the Lake of the Ozarks on Saturday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Daniel Cortez of Kansas City was a passenger in a boat when 31-year-old driver, Favian Estrada, hit a large wake, throwing Cortez overboard off the bow of the moving vessel.

Cortez was struck by the boat and later pronounced dead at 6:06pm.
