Firearm Found on Van-Far R1 Elementary School Bus
An elementary student was found with a firearm in his book bag on Thursday in the Van-Far R1 School District.
The firearm was discovered and confiscated when another student reported to the bus driver that he’d seen it. Audrain County Sheriff Matt Oller made a Facebook post later in the day saying that investigation revealed there was no “ill intent” on the part of the child.
“The child found the gun at home and brought it to show friends, and even wanted to show the principal because they thought it was cool.”
Oller said he is urging parents to take precautions to keep guns out of their child’s hands.
