Hurricane Ian is One of the Worst to Hit Florida According to Local Weatherman
Ian is now a tropical storm and back out over the Atlantic after wreaking devastation across Florida. The storm hit near Cayo Costa with 150 mph winds and storm surges up to 6 feet. Weather Channel reporters Mike Seidel and Jim Cantore had narrow escapes from both lightning and debris. In Port Charlotte, a hospital ICU was flooded and lost part of its roof, forcing evacuation of patients.
Matt Devitt, chief meteorologist for WINK-TV, after the studio was flooded and he was unable to continue broadcasting, said on Facebook “This was, without a doubt, the strongest hurricane in Southwest Florida history.”
Ian is expected to make landfall again as a tropical storm in South Carolina by tomorrow morning.
