Solar Farm Planned Near Kingdom City

A solar farm switchyard from Ameren Missouri is being planned near Kingdom City.

The utility has filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission to construct, install, own, operate and maintain a new 345 kilovolt switchyard in Callaway County to be called the Burns Switchyard.

Ameren entered into a Generator Interconnection Agreement on July 28, 2022 with Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. and Show Me State Solar that allows Show Me State Solar to construct a 250 megawatt solar farm.

The switchyard is necessary, according to Ameren, for Show Me State Solar to interconnect the solar farm’s output with the Missouri transmission grid to deliver the energy to market.

Those wanting to weigh in on the proposal contact the Office of Public Counsel at 866-922-2959.
