MHS Hosts District Speech & Debate Contests Friday & Saturday
Mexico High School is once again the host site for MSHSAA District 2 Speech and Debate Tournament Friday and Saturday.
Events are open to the public to watch students perform and an audience is appreciated, especially for Readers Theatre and One-Act Play performances.
One-Act Plays will be presented in Emmons Hall Friday afternoon beginning at 4:30 with Kirksville, followed by Battle, Rock Bridge and Mexico.
Students have 30 minutes to set up and strike the stage and 35 minutes to perform.
Readers Theatre performances will be held in the band room beginning Friday evening at 5:30 starting with Salisbury followed by Mexico, Kirksville, Troy, and Hickman.
Each school is allowed 10 minutes set up and take down and 30 minutes to perform.
Debate rounds begin Friday morning at 8:00 and individual events such as Prose, Poetry, Storytelling and Extemporaneous Speaking begin Saturday morning at 9:00.
