Former Eugene Field PE Teacher Loses Lawsuit Against Mexico School District
Katrina Dukes, former PE teacher at Eugene Field Elementary School in Mexico has lost her lawsuit against the school district.
According to online court records a judgement was entered yesterday (Wednesday) in favor of Mexico Public Schools.
Dukes had sued the district, claiming she was wrongfully fired last August after she was accused of child abuse.
Those charges stem from an incident on April 27th of last year when Dukes is accused of hitting a then second grader with a bag of dodge balls.
Dukes is charged with abuse or neglect of a child and endangering the welfare of a child, both felonies.
Her case was transferred to Warren County on a change of venue and a case review hearing is set for this afternoon (Thursday) at 1:00 according to online court records.
Mexico Public Schools issued the following comment on yesterday’s (Wednesday’s) decision, “We as a District are pleased that the Board of Education’s decision was upheld.”
