The Mexico Bulldogs lost 8-1 to the Highland Bulldogs yesterday (Wednesday).
Mexico struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Highland. Mexico scored in the first inning on an error.
Jack Wilburn was on the bump for Mexico. He pitched two and a third innings, striking out one and walking one.
Jaydon Eldridge, Austin Maxwell, Tyson Carr and Landyn Kleinsorge each entered the game as relief. After Highland scored all of their runs in the first four innings, the Mexico bullpen combined for five shutout innings.
Mexico played the Illinois team at Busch Stadium right after the conclusion of the St. Louis Cardinal/Atlanta Braves game.
Missouri Football announced yesterday (Wednesday) it has hired Brandon Jones as the offensive line coach. He has over 15 years of coaching experience and has spent the last four seasons at Houston where he coached the offensive line.
One of Mizzou basketball’s top performers is indicating he will be back for one more year in Columbia. Noah Carter tweeted yesterday that he will come back to the ZOU for his final season of eligibility. Carter averaged 9.6 points and 4 rebounds per game this past season for the Tigers after transferring from Northern Iowa.
The St. Louis Cardinals lost 5-2 to the Atlanta Braves at Busch Stadium yesterday (Wednesday). The Redbirds were swept in the three-game series by the Braves. One bright spot in the game was Cardinals rookie Jordan Walker, who blasted his first major league home run. St. Louis is off today (Thursday) as they travel to Milwaukee starting a series with the Brewers tomorrow (Friday) night on their first road trip of the season.
The Kansas City Royals were shut out 3-0 by the Toronto Blue Jays at the K. Royals rookie manager Matt Quatraro missed the game after testing positive for COVID. Bench coach Paul Hoover will serve as interim skipper until he returns. The Royals are off to a 1-4 start.
