Boone County Fire Shuts Down Route Z

Part of a state highway in Boone County is back open after being shut down for a while yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

A public alert was sent at around 2:30 yesterday afternoon saying Route Z was closed north of East Rob Cook Road.

A large cloud of black smoke could be seen from the roadway.

Boone County Fire Protection District posted on Facebook the fire was threatening several buildings and vehicles.

The fire started from burning cardboard from the neighbor’s yard that blew onto the property.

The road completely reopened at 7pm.
