Search For Betty Hayes Continues
The search for missing Monroe County resident Betty Hayes remains ongoing.
According to a social media from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, they received a report of a piece of purple plant material being found along Route C in southern Monroe County on Wednesday evening.
The caller remembered the description of Hayes indicated she may have been wearing plum or purple pants when she was last seen.
An extensive search was made of the area and included a forensic cadaver dog.
The dog did not alert on any human remains in the area, but other discarded items such as fence posts and dog toys along with children’s and men’s clothing were discovered in the area.
Sheriff Colston encourages anyone that sees anything out of the ordinary to contact his office.
