Mexico High School Academic Team is State Bound

The Mexico High School Academic Team is headed to the State tournament after advancing in Sectionals for the first time in school history yesterday (Tuesday).

It was a rocky start for the nationally ranked Mexico team when they lost game one to the host school Priory by a score of 440-290.

They bounced back to win game two by a score of 400-310.

It came down to a winner take all game three.

Mexico trailed all three games at the half and trailed game three by a score of 160-130 at half.

Sophomore Camden Williams took eight of the final 11 toss-ups to lead Mexico to a 360-300 win.

The team will compete for a State title on Saturday, May 6th in Columbia.
