KWWR Sports Report 6/5/23

Former Memphis head coach Kerrick Jackson will be the next Missouri Tigers baseball head coach.

The news comes less than a week after MU fired former head coach Steve Bieser.

Jackson is a St. Louis native and led Memphis to a 29-28 overall record in 2023.

It will not be Jackson’s first time in Columbia, as he spent five seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Mizzou from 2011 – 2015.

He will be officially introduced on MU’s campus in a few days.

Mizzou Tigers basketball added some size to the roster for the upcoming season as 7-foot-3 inch center Connor Vanover committed to the ZOU last night (Sunday).

Last year at Oral Roberts he averaged 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks per game.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 2-1 against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park yesterday (Sunday).

The Redbirds were swept by Pittsburgh in the three-game series.

St. Louis called up Luken Baker from Triple A, and he collected two hits yesterday (Sunday) in his Major League debut.

The Cardinals leave Pittsburgh as owners of the National League’s worst record at 25-35, and 10 games below .500.

The Kansas City Royals shut out the Colorado Rockies 2-0 at the K.
