Callaway County Man Indicted for Child Sex Crimes

A Callaway County man charged with child sex crimes has been indicted by a public grand jury this week.

24-year-old Charles Beavers was charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy and tampering with a victim in April.

According to court records, on April 19, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about a 14-year-old being sexually assaulted by Beavers.

During a forensic interview, the victim told deputies Beavers had sexually assaulted her at a residence in Holts Summit and told her he could go to prison if she told anyone about it.

Deputies said Beavers admitted to having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old victim after he had been read his Miranda Rights.

Beavers was booked into the Callaway County Jail on a $50,000 bond and released in May after posting bond.

On Tuesday, August 15, a Callaway County public grand jury indictment against Beavers was filed.
