Audrain County Municipalities Meeting Held at Former Audrain County Hospital Building

Elected officials and community leaders from Audrain County gathered in the cafeteria of the old hospital building in Mexico on Monday, August 21, 2023 to hear a presentation from Ziva Medical.

Amanda Shurtz CEO of Ziva Medical, the group who now owns the hospital buildings in Mexico and Fulton spoke at Audrain County Municipalities meeting.

Shurtz says Ziva Medical is currently working through several things including bankruptcy court hearings and obtaining a certificate of need for the hospitals.

Shurtz says Ziva Medical would run Mexico as a critical access hospital which would include an emergency room, 25 beds or less, with lab services and surgery and employ around 125 people.

The plans for Fulton is to have a rural emergency hospital, which would allow an emergency room and outpatient services with about 50 employees.

Ziva is also planning on opening clinics in several communities including Perry.

Shurtz says Ziva Medical will next be in bankruptcy court on September 19, 2023.
