Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are at the top of the list in two Associated Press polls released yesterday (Monday).

A panel of nine AP Pro Football Writers unanimously selected Mahomes as the number one quarterback.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was a near-unanimous choice for the top spot among NFL head coaches.

He received eight of nine first-place votes.

The Kansas City Chiefs open up the regular season against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, September 7.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 4-1 to the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium last night (Monday).

Adam Wainwright pitched well enough to get his 199th win, however the Cardinals offense did not come through for him.

St. Louis went 0-6 with runners in scoring position.

Paul Goldschmidt did launch a home run in the loss.

The Kansas City Royals were shut out 5-0 by the Pittsburgh Pirates at the K.
