Audrain County Sheriff’s Department K9 Jax Help in Apprehending Man Wanted on Felony Charges

One of the newly trained K9’s at the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office was able to assist in tracking down a man wanted for felony weapons charges.

According to a social media post from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, August 29, during the evening hours, deputies overheard radio traffic from Mexico Public Safety that a felony suspect was fleeing from their officers on foot.

Sergeant Derek Chism and Master Sergeant David Fouch from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department were in the area, and while helping patrol the area for the suspect, saw a person hiding behind some bushes.

When the man noticed the officers saw him, he started to try to get away on foot.

K9 Jax was deployed and warning announcements were given to the man that Jax would be released if he continued to flee.

The suspect surrendered to K9 Jax and Sergeant Chism.

The man was arrested by officers on the scene.

The suspect was a juvenile, therefore no names can be released.
