Audrain County Healthcare Market Assessment and Needs Study Results Shared During Public Meeting in Mexico
Earlier this year the Audrain County Commission, City of Mexico and Audrain County Health Department hired FORVIS, LLC out of Springfield, Missouri to conduct a study to identify and recommend healthcare delivery models and facilities to meet the needs of the community.
Results of that study done on the healthcare market in Audrain County shows there is a need for a Critical Access Hospital in Mexico.
The results of the independent study conducted by FORVIS were shared during a public meeting at the Audrain County Courthouse last night (Thursday), September 14, 2023.
Some of the key findings of the study showed a need for 8 emergency department treatment rooms and 16-18 inpatient beds.
The information was based on 534 people who responded to a community survey.
FORVIS estimated that if there was an emergency department in Mexico, MO, it would see-12,450 visits a year.
FORVIS estimates a total project cost of $24.7 million for renovating existing hospital with critical access designation.
FORVIS estimates a total project cost of 453 million to build a new critical access hospital.
