St. Louis Man Arrested Accused of Taking Police on Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Through Callaway County

According to a press release from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, on October 5, 2023, at approximately 4:06pm, a resident of Fulton reported that her white Dodge Durango had been stolen in the 200 block of Sycamore.

Shortly afterward, the Fulton Police Department located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit on State Road F. Deputies in the vicinity joined the pursuit, ultimately taking the lead as the vehicle continued eastbound on US Highway 54 near Kingdom City.

Deputies and FPD officers pursued the vehicle onto eastbound I-70 at speeds exceeding 100 MPH, where a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, awaiting the vehicle to pass, deployed spike strips near 152 mile marker on I-70.

The vehicle continued for over 2 miles before exiting the roadway and driving through a field. The driver fled the vehicle on foot into a cornfield and eventually jumped into a lake.

Deputies, assisted by FPD and MSHP troopers, apprehended the driver, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Draper from St. Louis. Draper was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest for Domestic Assault 3rd, with no bond.

Draper remains in the custody of the Callaway County Jail on numerous (new) felony charges stemming from the pursuit.
