Two People Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 54 Bypass Identified by Mexico Public Safety
Two people who were killed in an accident on the US Highway 54 bypass on Sunday, October 23, 2023 have been identified by Mexico Public Safety.
The accident happened around 7:12pm about one mile from East Liberty Street.
According to the Mexico Public Safety accident report responding personnel found that a 2016 Dodge was being driven northbound by 34-year-old Kelly B. Rolando of Pleasant Hill, Illinois, when it crossed the centerline and hit a 2022 Tesla being driven southbound by 62-year-old Jeffery M. Jappa of St. Louis.
Both Rolando and Jappa died as a result of the crash.
A front seat passenger in the Tesla, 63-year-old Cheryl A. Pro of St. Louis was taken to University Hospital by ambulance where she was admitted.
The bypass was closed for about 2 and a half hours.
