Missouri Military Academy Mourning the Off-Campus Death of Freshman Cadet Taylor Lafferty

The Missouri Military Academy is mourning the loss of a cadet who passed away over the Thanksgiving break.

According to a letter from the MMA sent out to parents they received a call from the father of freshman Cadet Taylor Lafferty notifying of the death of his son in South Dakota.

The Missouri Military Academy reports Cadet Lafferty left the campus on November 18th and did not return to the Academy following Thanksgiving furlough.

The details of his death have not been confirmed at this time.

The MMA said Commandant Grabowski and Chaplain Joan met with the corps of cadets today to assist them in processing this sad news.

And Dean Harding met with faculty and staff to talk to them about how to best support cadets and each other during this time.

The MMA is also collaborating with local mental health resource Arthur Center Community Health, for additional support for cadets, faculty and staff.
