Man Found With Gun Shots to the Head After Audrain County Police Pursuit

The condition of a man who took police on a car pursuit through Audrain County during the evening hours of Friday, December 15, 2023 is unknown.

According to the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office their deputies were dispatched to Casey’s in Laddonia just before 11pm Friday night for a report of a juvenile being with a non-family member adult male, and the parent/guardian wanted the juvenile contacted and returned home.

When the deputy arrived at Casey’s, the man reportedly drove away at a high rate of speed with the girl inside.

The deputy knew the man who had three active Felony warrants for arrest for Failure to Appear on the original charges of Burglary, Stealing of Firearms and Driving Revoked.

The deputy pursued the vehicle onto several gravel roads and at one point, the suspect stopped, and the girl exited the vehicle, and the truck fled again.

A member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was ahead of the pursuit and deployed tire deflation devices.

According to the news release as the suspect passed the Trooper, he fired several shots at the Trooper.

The Trooper was not struck, however his patrol vehicle was hit by gunfire.

The pursuit continued into Mexico along several streets, and at the intersection of Boulevard and Breckenridge, the suspect vehicle was disabled as a result of being struck by multiple patrol vehicles to end the pursuit in a non-populated area.

Officers approached the vehicle and discovered the driver had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head according to the press release.
