A Mexico man identified as the driver who took police on a high speed chase on Friday, December 15, 2023 has died.
According to a news release from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Dominic K. Bosworth of Mexico was the driver.
Bosworth was pronounced dead at the University Hospital in Columbia during the early morning hours of Saturday, December 16, 2023.
An autopsy is pending by the Audrain County Coroner.
Officers were called to Casey’s in Laddonia on Friday, December 15, 2023, for a report of a female juvenile being with Bosworth.
Deputies say when they arrived Bosworth took them on a high speed chase onto several gravel roads where he shot at a Missouri Highway Patrol Vehicle and hit it with gunfire.
The female juvenile was let out of the vehicle prior to that.
Bosworth’s vehicle was eventually disabled at the intersection of Boulevard and Breckenridge in Mexico where he was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and two 9mm pistols were found in Bosworth’s vehicle.
An investigation is continuing by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Division of Drug and Crime Control.
