Cause of Nu-Tone Cleaners Building Fire in Mexico Under Investigation
One dog and two cats died in an apartment in Mexico during the evening hours of Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Mexico Public Safety responded to the 400 block of West Monroe at the Nu-Tone Cleaners building and found flame coming from the upper level of the laundromat that contained eight apartments.
One apartment was fully involved, and the fire had begun to spread to another apartment and the attic of the building.
The fire was extinguished with the fully involved apartment suffering severe fire damage, about 25% of the attic suffering fire damage, and the adjoining apartment suffering moderate fire damage.
The rest of the building had smoke and water damage.
All residents safely evacuated the building and were uninjured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
