The St. Louis Cardinals thumped the Texas Rangers 10-1 at Busch Stadium on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Cardinals starting pitcher Michael McGreevy just called up from Triple A Memphis made his Major League Baseball debut and held the defending champion Rangers scoreless for 5 1/3 innings before putting the finishing touches on a one-run outing on five hits and one walk over seven innings as the Redbirds took two out of three games to win the series.
Tommy Pham provided three hits and Brendan Donovan contributed 3 RBI.
The Cardinals finished the home stand with a record of 3-3.
The Kansas City Royals finished off July be sweeping the Chicago White Sox with a 10-3 win on the road Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Through two-thirds of the season the Royals are 60-49 overall and tied for second with the Minnesota Twins both in the American League Central and for the second American League Wild Card spot.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney had to leave training camp on a medical cart on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Toney went up in the air to catch a pass and came up injured suffering a potential leg injury.
After seeking some medical attention from trainers, he was removed from the practice fields by the team’s medical cart for further evaluation.
The son of former St. Louis Cardinals slugging first baseman Mark McGwire is returning to St. Louis.
According to reports on X Max McGwire will continue his baseball career at Saint Louis University.
McGwire, a 6-2, 195-pound first baseman, was rated as the number 90 prospect nationally.
McGwire missed his sophomore season in 2023 at the University of San Diego after Tommy John surgery.
