The Mexico Lady Bulldogs High School Softball Team defeated the Kirksville Tigers 5 – 2 on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

Sophomore Payton Shaw hit her first home run at the varsity level and recorded three RBI.

Scottie Smith and Maddy Feger contributed an RBI a piece.

Lady Bulldogs star pitcher Aleigha Henderson did not allow any runs in three innings.

Mexico improved to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

The St. Louis Cardinals were hut out 3-0 by the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

The Reds scored all of their runs in the 5th inning.

St. Louis went 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left the bases loaded in the ninth inning.

With the loss the Cardinals find themselves 6.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot with just a handful of games remaining.

The Kansas City Royals blanked the New York Yankees 5 – 0.

Kansas City remained in possession of the second American League Wild Card spot, 2 1/2 games ahead of the Minnesota Twins.

Kansas City also 3 1/2 games behind the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central.

The fourth annual Tom Kurvers Showcase is set for this weekend September 13th through September 15th at the Centenne Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights.

The showcase will include a round-robin style format of exhibition games featuring prospects from the St. Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild.

All practice session and games will be free and open to the public.
