Boone Hospital Center Awarded Magnet Designation Fifth Time
The following news release was sent out from Boone Health on Tuesday, September 25, 2024.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center announced today that Boone Hospital Center has achieved its Magnet designation for the fifth time in a row, indicating the high standard of excellence that Boone Hospital nurses achieve every day for patients.
The ANCC Magnet Recognition Program distinguishes health care organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence, and the credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing.
“Our nurses work around the clock to ensure every patient has the best possible care while they are staying with us or visiting one of our clinics,” said Shannon Kuczynski, chief nursing executive at Boone Health.
“To receive this designation five times in a row is a tremendous honor and reflects our commitment to delivering the highest quality of care to our community over the past two decades and the future.”
Research demonstrates that Magnet recognition provides specific benefits to health care organizations and their communities, such as:
- Higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, availability of help and receipt of discharge information.
- Low risk of 30-day mortality and lower failure-to-rescue rates.
- Higher job satisfaction among nurses.
- Lower nurse report of intentions to leave their positions.
Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence and is a factor when the public judges health care organizations. U.S. News & World Report’s annual showcase of “America’s Best Hospitals” includes Magnet recognition in its ranking criteria for quality of inpatient care.
Only 618 hospitals in the world (601 in the U.S.) have attained Magnet status.
Of those, only 70 have received Magnet designation five time.
Boone Hospital first received Magnet status in 2005 and was re-designated in 2009, 2014, and 2019, and is the only mid-Missouri hospital that has been awarded this designation.
