One Person Displaced and Two Cats Rescued After Structure Fire in Jefferson City
One person has been displaced following a fire at a Jefferson City home during the morning hours of Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
The Jefferson City Fire Department responded to the fire near the 100 block of Taylor Street.
According to the press release, a neighbor in the area said smoke was seen coming from the home’s windows and roof-line.
When crews arrived and determined that the building was unoccupied they began fighting back the fire from the inside.
Firefighters reported moderate smoke and a fire in the home’s kitchen.
The fire was contained to the kitchen area, however, the entire first floor of the building suffered smoke damage.
Two cats are temporarily in the care of animal control after being found located inside the structure during the fire.
One occupant was displaced by the fire, but no injuries have been reported at this time.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
